MIA blogger/crocheter

Still crocheting wool longies and wool skirties while studying for my Psychology degree, but have been slack on this crochet blog. Will try to start updating everyday. Here are some of my recent shipments to Etsy customers, just to give an idea of what I’ve been up to. :)

Wool Crochet Longie Obsession

crocheted wool morning glory longies soaker

crocheted wool morning glory longies soaker

This crochet blog was not intended to talk about only crocheted wool longies, but that seems to be all I have been blogging about as late. I’ve become, I guess you could say, obsessed. I love the Ladybugz Morning Glory Pattern. I think the texture of the HDC stitching is wonderfully beautiful. I could stare at HDC’s all day. When I close my eyes at night, I see HDCed wool….. And wool. Ah, there is something about using natural fibers that is so revitalizing — It just feels right somehow… I crocheted something with acrylic the other day, and while it was nice, I just missed the texture of wool. For so many years I thought I was allergic to wool, but read about others crocheting with wool, and was often envious. I finally decided to try it one day, and now I am in love — with no reaction whatsoever. Apparently people often mistake a reaction for wool, when it is actually some chemical used to treat wool. Superwash wools are treated with chemicals to make them not shrink when you wash/dry them, and maybe that was my allergy. I’m not sure. I do know, though, that the Lion’s Brand Fisherman’s Wool that I am using has not ever given me a reaction. Hoorah! :)

As for the longies, I’ve been OVERWELMED by the response I have received on Etsy.com and Ebay.com. Thank you to each and everyone who has commented, ordered, and encouraged me. I’m new on etsy.com, and still learning the ropes, but I am amazed at the kindness and help I’ve been offered, as well as enthusiastic customers. Thank you, everyone, truly!

Okay, enough gabbing, here are some tantelizing HDC stitched wool fiber longie shots for your viewing pleasure. :-P You know you just want to see the fiberous HDC stitches :-P… I know I’m not the only crochet stitch obsessed viewer out there ;)…

New Morning Glory Pink and Purple Distressed Jean-Look Wool Longies Soaker

Wool Crocheted ladybugz morning glory woaker longies vintage/distressed jean-look

My newest Wool Crocheted Morning Glory Longies using the Ladybugz pattern were Kool-Aid dyed with Grape and Pink Lemonade Koolaid to give them a girlie vintage/distressed jean-look. For all of my longies, I use Lion Brand’s Fisherman’s wool. Many moms swear by Lion’s Brand Fisherman’s Wool for their longies, because they say it holds up better, especially with babies who are crawling and walking, and it also resists pilling better than other wool yarns.

Longies are cute as well as functional. Lanolized wool longies serve as a cloth diaper cover to keep moisture from leaking out, but also are breathable to keep baby’s temperature regulated.

More Wool Crocheted Morning Glory Longies — Ladybugz Farm Licensee

I have enjoyed crocheting the Ladybugz Farms Morning Glory Longies so much, that I am now a Ladybugz Farm Licensee for the Morning Glory Longies Pattern. I’ve crocheted three longies to sell so far. These longies are so fun to crochet. I made them all with the vintage/distressed jean look, and listed them on both ebay and etsy.

Wool longies are so wonderful, even if you don’t cloth diaper your baby. Wool is naturally breathable, so when I put them on my own daughter she stays the perfect temperature. I always have a hard time figuring out how I should dress my baby girlie, and wool is always the perfect answer, because it is so versatile, and helps regulate a baby’s temperature. When in doubt, wool is the best bet. Especially when it looks like distressed jeans! :)

Now for the pictures! I give you

I have crocheted one more, but have not taken pictures yet, so look for those on my crochet blog here, later. :) I know I’m supposed to be blogging about crocheting socks, and that post is soon. I’ve just gotten so into the soaker thing that the crochet socks have been put on the back burner. Don’t give up on me. Meanwhile, I’m on break from college for a week, so I should be crocheting and blogging more!

If anyone is interested in some vintage/distressed jean longies, feel free to contact me with your custom orders at crochetdiva@crochetcastle.com. :)

Distressed Jean-look Woolen Longies

Here are the crocheted ladybugz morning glory pattern wool longies that I crocheted, and then dyed with kool-aid. They are a little long on the wee diva, because they were crocheted to fit her this winter. I added some fringe to the bottoms, and a little fringe to have the holey-distressed-blue-jean-look.

Wee Diva was having a “Diva Moment”:
